Curriculum Review Workshop: Incorporation of Responsible Business Conduct into Curricula of Law and Business Schools in Kenya

On 25th and 26th November 2025, CEPCJ in collaboration with Riara University conducted a curriculu review workshop under the Cultivating Justice Project: Enhancing Responsible Business Conduct in Kenya’s Agribusiness Sector. This project is being undertaken in collaboration with DanChurchAid Kenya and Pamoja Trust and funded by European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denmark.
This was the first of a series of workshops and was aimed at holding a preliminary discussion on the following agenda:
- Introduction to Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and Business and Human Rights (BHR).
- Global frameworks for Responsible Business Conduct
- Mainstreaming RBC/BHR in Curricula of Institutions of Higher Learning
- Analysis of the awareness/uptake of RBC in programs at the Universities
- Hackathons as a Tool for Enhancing Responsible Business Conduct.
Academics from private and public universities participated and enriched the discussions by highlighting the current status of teaching of RBC/BHR in law schools and business schools in Kenya, giving recommendations for how to incorporate it and mainstream it into curricula. The discussions on hackathons as a tool for enhancing RBC was also interactive and is intended to be applied in future.
CEPCJ remains committed to enhancing Responsible Business Conduct in Kenya.
