Wanjiru Gathigi

Wanjiru Gathigi is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of diverse experience in both the banking and development sectors. She is currently serving as the Country Director for Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Kenya, and is a founding trustee of WECREATE Kenya. Her expertise lies in navigating the gig economy and digital inclusion landscape, and she brings a wealth of knowledge to empower individuals and organizations in the ever-evolving digital era. In her role at DOT Kenya, she has demonstrated a proven track record of success in areas such as digital skills, entrepreneurship development, livelihood programming, platform-based employment, and gig economy strategies. Her passion for promoting digital inclusion and economic empowerment extends to marginalized groups, particularly youth, women, and refugees. As a former Curator (2016/17) of the Nairobi Hub and a Global Shaper Alumni, she has been actively involved in shaping global conversations and initiatives. Additionally, she served as a mentor with the Africa Entrepreneurship Awards and a consultant on a Refugee Livelihood program in Uganda. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from University of Nairobi and a Masters in Banking and Finance from Moi University. She is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Kenya and the Kenya Gender Budget Network. She is also a board member of Uthabiti Advisory Services. She is driven by a belief in the transformative power of digital inclusion and economic empowerment. Her career is dedicated to leveraging my expertise to bridge gaps, foster entrepreneurship, and champion sustainable development in an ever-changing digital landscape.
